Schouw acquires Specma
Valentum advised Investment AB Latour on the sale of Specma to the listed Danish investment company Schouw A/S.
Specma is a leading company in the Nordic hydraulics market. The company employs 750 people in eight countries and has a turnover of SEK 1.4 billion. The enterprise value amounted to SEK 820 million.
Specma Group was founded in 1920 and has been a part of Investment AB Latour since its foundation in 1985. The company has a leading position in the hydraulics and components market in the Nordic countries. The business is divided into two departments, Global and Nordic, where Global delivers hydraulic systems and components to leading global OEMs and Nordic serves the secondary market and smaller local OEMs. The company has a global presence and is active in eight countries: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, England, Poland, China, Brazil and the US.
From 1990 to 2008, the company grew from SEK 50 million to SEK 1.2 billion, both organically and through acquisitions. During the financial crisis, the company was hit hard as the demand for hydraulic components decreased, but under new leadership from 2013, the company has grown substantially. At the time of sale, the turnover was SEK 1.4 billion with high profitability.
