Valentum advised Transdev on the sale and carve-out of Flygbussarna Airport Coaches to Vy
Transdev Group, an international transport group with more than 80,000 employees, has made a strategic decision to focus on the core of their business: transport procurement and services to business customers (B2B). For this reason, Transdev decided to divest Flygbussarna Airport Coaches.
Flygbussarna offers straightforward and comfortable airport transfers by bus to and from all the major airports in Sweden. It is the leading public airport transfer company in Sweden and has a turnover of more than SEK 500 million. Flygbussarna has a fleet of 85 fossil-free buses that covers seven different airports, served by twelve separate routes. In total, close to five million journeys were made in 2019.
The acquirer Vy is one of the largest train and bus companies in the Nordic region, with a turnover of NOK 16 billion. The bus department has 7,400 employees, 3,300 buses and a turnover of NOK 6 billion derived from procurements and commercial transportation. The train department has 3,200 employees and a turnover of NOK 9.6 billion.
“Flygbussarna has been a successful part of Transdev Sverige and has grown significantly since the acquisition in 2007. We are very happy to reveal that Vy is taking over ownership of Flygbussarna. Vy is, just like Flygbussarna, very customer-oriented and will continue to develop the business in the future”, says Gunnar Schön, CEO at Transdev Sverige.
“We are looking forward of becoming a part of the Vy-group. We will have an owner who wants to focus on B2C and that will facilitate growth by continued investments in our employees and customers”, says Zakaria Abna-Aissa, business manager at Flygbussarna.
“We will take the best out of our two businesses and create something even better. We’re not satisfied with just acquiring Flygbussarna, we have big plans to expand and allow more passengers to experience comfortable, eco-friendly and affordable journeys to and from our airports”, says Robert Nyberg, CEO at Vy travel.
Valentum’s project team consisted of Tomas Almgren, Henrik Jakobsson, Henrik Falkenby and Felicia Nordin.
